Presented XXI Rosso Corri Trieste and Rosso di Sera Family Run.

TRIESTE-The Rosso di Sera Family Run and XXI Rosso Corri Trieste scheduled for Friday, May 17 and Sunday, May 19, respectively, were presented today at the Starhotel Savoia Excelsior in Trieste. The events are organized by ASD Promorun in cooperation with the Municipality of Trieste and the Friuli-Venezia Giulia Region and the Rosso general maintenance and construction company, recently engaged in the redevelopment of the Porto Vecchio.

Elisa Lodi, Sports Councillor: “I bring greetings from the Mayor of the Municipality of Trieste Roberto Dipiazza and congratulate the organizers and partners on their ability to organize a weekend of celebration and sports. The City of Trieste is close to sports and promotes events with a strongly inclusive character. We are confident that, as with all events organized by Promorun, we will see a great success, many registered, even from out of town to whose enthusiasm will be added by the cheers of the public. We express satisfaction and congratulations for the hard work of volunteers, a necessary structure for the success of the race. This year the spotlight is on the Old Port, an opportunity for citizens and race participants to experience firsthand how it is evolving and how it is opening the door to a new Trieste that has been in the shadows for so long. Good luck and good work.

Fabio Scoccimarro: “Kudos to Promorun for being a guarantee in organizing great sports events that have become a tradition. The city, also thanks to sports, is witnessing a new renaissance accompanied by attention to ecology, an aspect declined by Promorun with several actions including the choice of wooden medals. Thanks to Rosso Ltd. because it once again shows that it cares about the city by supporting an event that encompasses so many values.

Pierpaolo Roberti: “Only a few weeks ago we presented the Corsa dei Castelli, and today we are here to present another event that has more than just a technical purpose. On the one hand there will be competitiveness and spectacle thanks to the presence of top runners, who will compete on a very fast course, on the other hand the promotion of the social aspect, eyes on the family and the message that sport, with the Family Run, is a powerful engine of solidarity, on this occasion towards the Burlo Garofolo ETS Foundation. Credit is also due to the Rosso company, which is committed to charity toward a historic local institution that is also an international excellence. Here in Trieste, thanks to the commitment of the institutions and the Ross company, a new jewel is emerging, the Porto Vecchio. Congratulations To Promorun for what it is doing and for the ability to approach high-level sponsors.”

Paolo Rosso, President of Rosso Construction Company: “I thank Promorun for the invitation to work together on a project where the values promoted are family and solidarity. It is important for us at Rosso to be recognized as a company led by ordinary people who are committed to the less fortunate, a commitment best fulfilled this year thanks to the change of pace due to the partnership with Promorun. On behalf of all the staff, I can say that the solidarity goal toward Burlo Garofolo ETS Foundation is a source of pride for us. I will be there and participate, over the years running has taught me to get to the finish line, to pursue goals, I am sure it will be an exciting celebration.”

Silvia Gianardi, President Asd Promorun: “I thank the institutions that are close to us and Paolo Rosso who is now part of the Promorun family. We are proud to have introduced the Rosso di Sera Family Run on Friday evenings because it is suitable for families and young children, the perfect opportunity to enjoy a family evening and discover the Old Port, newly redeveloped thanks to Rosso. Rendezvous on Friday 17 at 7 p.m., we have booked sunset as well as entertainment and party. For those who would like to participate in the traditional race, however, the date is Sunday, May 19, an event for which the numbers are close to sold out, this is because it is an exclusive race because we want to give the athletes a chance to express themselves at their best.”

Gabriele Cont, President of Burlo Garofolo Foundation ETS: “I represent a hospital that invests in families, in children, in life but for that very reason needs a good team effort. Sports is full of values, simple but reproducible in the lives of all of us, commitment, perseverance, sacrifice, passion, example because in my own small way I approached the sport by even running a marathon with the goal of getting to the bottom and discovering that together we can move forward. When sports and family come together, it’s even better.”

Giacomo Biviano, President Fidal CP Trieste: “Rosso di Sera Family Run and XXI Rosso Corri Trieste, two events organized by ASD Promorun, one involving families inside the Porto Vecchio on Friday, May 17 at 7 p.m. and looking, also and above all, to the Burlo Garofolo Foundation to support scientific research, the other purely competitive, on the one hand, and the non-competitive on the other that will convene on the morning of Sunday, May 19. The competitive race back inside the Old Port with a very fast circuit consisting of three 3.3-kilometer laps is a pure treat and, hearing the names of the top runners, there will be fun to be had. I really wish the best of luck to Promorun, which now has years of experience in organizing such events in its DNA.

Ernesto De Mari, CONI Provincial Delegate: “Organizing events is not easy, from all of CONI my greetings to the organizers and volunteers who work to make the event a success. We are living through a difficult time in history, youth distress tells us that there is a need to be together and huddle around the family. In sports you also learn to have respect for others, this event is essential, thanks to institutions and sponsors who make it possible.”

Michele Gamba, Technical Race Director: “Thanks to institutions and partners, sports events are a vehicle for the message of inclusion but also have technical value. We will have last year’s winners Caroline Gitonga and Ararso Negasa at the start. Technical quality will be ensured by the presence of Matea Parlov, vice European marathon champion, and, on the men’s side, by a pacer who will spur Negasa to run under 28′. For us, having athletes of international caliber is also a way to incentivize the younger ones, the athletes of tomorrow, who perhaps can fall in love with the athletic act.”

RED EVENING FAMILY RUN – The weather will be that of full spring, the charm that of the Old Port at sunset, all perfect for a walk of 3 km with family or with friends, even of their own four-legged, on a completely illuminated and turned into a real party thanks to entertainment for children and adults. Promorun has thought about making this experience even more special and it will be unforgettable thanks to the Joma technical T-shirt and medal that participants will find inside the race pack. And after the walk, final refreshments for all to extend the celebration and enjoy the last rays of sunshine in company. The event marries solidarity with the Burlo Garofolo ETS Foundation, with the goal of supporting scientific research, improving care, purchasing machinery, acquiring advanced technology, and promoting popular health education events for children/youth, their families, and women’s health.

THE RACE – After two editions held in the heart of the city, with a logistics base in Piazza Venezia, the route of the XXI Rosso Corri Trieste, a 10-kilometer road race included in the FIDAL National Calendar, back inside the Old Port, In a fascinating theater with characteristics of great speed. A route partially overlapping with that of 2021, departure from Warehouse 27 to address three laps of 3.3 km along which the blue Joan Epis in 2021 had run a very fast 33’00” giving a great athletic performance to the audience as well and made a crucial test for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

The Non-Competitive Ten, an event that has become part of the tradition and allows friends to challenge each other or simply run together, participating in a real celebration, will also take place in parallel.

THE TOP RUNNERS – The record to beat is that of Kenyan Dickson Simba Nyakundi, who won in 2022 in 28’47”, a chrono corresponding to the seventh best 10k race time on Italian soil. Returning for an encore is Ethiopian Ararso Negasa Gemeda, who brings a personal best of 28’25” won last year at the Adizero road to records in Herzogenaurach. Last year, the Ethiopian had ignited a thrilling challenge against Celestin Ndikumana, snatching victory in 28’46”, just one second ahead of the runner-up. She will have to contend with the very young Kenyan Johana Erot, capable of running the distance in 28’47”, as she proved in Nairobi last year.

In the women’s race, the main favorite is undoubtedly Kenyan Caroline Makandi Gitonga (Run2Gether), the race record holder with a time of 31’23” with which she had crossed the finish line as last year’s winner. Gitonga is used to competing in Italy and recently set a new distance record by running 31’15” in Hamburg. Giving her a run for her money will be Croatia’s Matea Parlov Kostro, for her no less than 15 national titles over distances from 1500 m to 10 km on the road, a career that has seen her on the top step of the podium since 2014. Kostro can count on a 31’54” record set in Berlin last year that also earned her the national specialty record and a silver medal at the European Marathon Championships in 2022. He recently won a bronze medal at the Stramilano.

T-SHIRT – It is the best way to remember participation in an event to wear the technical race t-shirt, again the result of a collaboration with technical partner Joma. Proven quality, breathable and elastic to ensure maximum comfort. Blue, bears the logos of Joma and the event on the front and returns the motto “Yes, We Run,” a motivational phrase that tells of runners’ passion and pride in the sport, as well as the name of the race and the logos of Rosso, Towers of Europe, CiviBank and triestevillas, friendly partners of the event.

MEDAL – Ever more special is the finisher’s medal, once again linked to another great value, respect for the environment, evidenced here by the choice of a sustainable product from the IFeelWood line. The medal will be produced from recycled wood, derived from fallen trees or from material collected during forest clearing or from biological and rotary tree cutting processes, as told by FSC and PEFC® certificates, proves that the wood comes from controlled and approved plantations following certain cutting and regrowth standards, thus not being the cause of illegal logging that is destroying our planet. In addition to the name and date of the race, the medal depicts one of the Old Port Warehouses, sealing this event’s connection to the city’s history.

THE SPONSOR TITLE – The Red Company., based in the Julian capital, specializes in the construction of structures, installations, interior finishes, window and door frames, interior and exterior maintenance, and turnkey housing renovation, thanks to the work of teams and means based on great professionalism and expertise gained in more than fifty years of activity in the construction industry during which different challenges have always been successfully faced. Rosso himself is working on the renovation of part of the area of Trieste’s Porto Vecchio, built by theAustro-Hungarian Empire between 1868 and 1887 following a competition announced by the Vienna government in 1863. Covering an area of 617,000sq. m., the Porto Vecchio runs from the outlet of the Ponterosso Canal to the outlying settlement of Barcola, is protected by a breakwater, has five piers and 23 large buildings including hangars, warehouses and other facilities as well as being connected with the old 1857 railroad. Although not in operation, all the structures are still visible, testifying to the commercial and entrepreneurial function of Trieste in the 1800s and early 1900s and thus constituting a true memory of the city, often not well known. Thanks to the work of the Rosso company, Promorun was able to redesign the race course. Hence this collaboration aimed primarily at engaging the citizenry.

BURLO FOUNDATION – The Burlo Garofolo Foundation is a nonprofit organization with the sole purpose of general interest and social solidarity both regionally and nationally, through the support and sustainment of institutional activities, for the benefit of the IRCCS Burlo Garofolo Maternal and Child Health Institute (IRCCS Burlo Garofolo), the maternal and child hospital of Friuli-Venezia Giulia. From care to research, Burlo Garofolo is the point of reference for all families in Trieste and the region, and-when it comes to treating and managing very complex diseases-it also becomes so for many families from Italy and abroad. The Burlo Garofolo Foundation was established with the aim of raising funds and organizing events so that there are always resources to support the best care and to create around the IRCCS Burlo Garofolo the attention needed to support the health of children and their families through training, care activities, technological renewal, research activities and dialogue with the territory.
