TRIESTE – Still fresh sensations from the 20th edition of “Corri Trieste” and the outstanding women’s record set by Caroline Makandi Gitonga, a Kenyan athlete, with a time of 31’23”. This places it 44th in the global seasonal rankings and first in Italy. The atmosphere of challenge and internationality will be the dominant theme of the 7th Corsa dei Castelli, a 10-kilometer FIDAL-sanctioned road race, conceived by Giorgio Rossi, Sports Councillor of the City of Trieste, and organized by ASD Promorun with the support of the City of Trieste and the Friuli-Venezia Giulia Region, scheduled for Sunday, October 15.
THE RACES – Trieste shows itself in all its beauty, from Miramare Castle to the Castle of St. Just, the city’s patron saint. The route, full of amazing architectural, scenic and cultural views, starts at the first castle and ends at the second. The route, after the stunning Piazza Unità, winds through the heart of the city, through the alleys leading to the San Giusto Castle. The last kilometer, known as “The Wall” because of its slope, ends between the ramparts of the Austrian fortress. Parallel to the main race, there will also be the Non-Competitive Ten, which does not require membership or a competitive medical certificate, and the 8-kilometer Family Run, with the aim of promoting sports as a habit that is fundamental to physical and mental well-being.
INTERNATIONALITY – The 7th Race of the Castles will kick off the 1st International Road Race Running Match u.23 10k, which is an important lead-up to the Rome 2024 European Athletics Championships. This event has been included in the World Athletics calendar and will see the participation of many nations, thanks to the collaboration with the Italian Athletics Federation (Fidal). More than ten foreign federations and more than 100 under-23 athletes from their respective national teams were invited by Asd Promorun to participate in this event, providing Trieste with an opportunity for internationalization in sports. Team standings will be determined by adding up the scores of the top three athletes at the finish line for each representative team. In addition, the top three men and the top three women, as well as the top three nations, will receive an award.
NOT JUST RUNNING – Sports, emotions, wellness, environment, tourism and culture are just some of the themes that come together successfully in this initiative. However, ASD Promorun decided to go further and promote a solidarity campaign to benefit Burlo Garofolo Hospital. The 8-kilometer Family Run, recognized as the most participated running event in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, is an opportunity to support a local facility through an event with a strong social impact. The event will also be an opportunity to promote gender equality in sports and provide opportunities for athletes with disabilities.

10:00 a.m. – Start 1st International Road Race Running Match U23, a 10 km race through the iconic points of the city of Trieste
11:15 a.m. – Awards begin, awards will be given, in order: top 3 U23 women, top 3 U23 men, top 3 nations.
