Corsa dei Castelli Regulations
Competitive 10km road race October 15, 2023
A.S.D. Promorun Trieste, in cooperation with the municipality of Trieste and the Friuli-Venezia Giulia Region, is organizing the 7th edition of the Corsa dei Castelli, a road running athletics event included in the FIDAL National Calendar. The event will take place in all weather conditions. A doctor’s presence and ambulance service will be guaranteed. The organizing company accepts no responsibility for any damage to persons or property that may occur before, during or after the holding of the event. Federal FIDAL and G.G.G. regulations apply to anything not covered by these regulations.
By registering for the race, the athlete declares that he/she has read and fully accepts these regulations.

Only in case of bib availability and at the total discretion of the Organizing Committee, it will be possible, exceptionally, to register at the Corsa dei Castelli Family Run Registration Center:
- October 4 to 10 at a fee of €30.00 in Via Luigi Einaudi, 2 Trieste from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- October 11 at a fee of €30.00 in Piazza Unità d’Italia, Trieste from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- October 12 to 14 at a fee of €35.00 in Piazza Unità d’Italia, Trieste from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- October 15 at a fee of €35.00 in the departure area at the Miramare Castle from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

- Timing service with chips to be returned to staff at the end of the race. In case of failure to return, the athlete must pay €20.00 in compensation.

REFUNDS AND TRANSFERS
Registration cannot be transferred to another athlete and there is no refund.
REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTICIPATION OF ATHLETES REGISTERED IN ITALY
According to the provisions of the “Rules for the Organization of Events” issued by FIDAL, athletes registered in Italy may participate limited to persons 16 years of age (pupils) and older who meet one of the following requirements:
- Athletes registered for 2023 for clubs affiliated with FIDAL
- Athletes in possession of Runcard (valid as sports insurance and permission to compete),
However, participation is conditional:
- o the presentation of a valid medical certificate of specific competitive fitness for athletics, which must be shown to the organizers in the original and kept, as a copy, in the records of the organizing club of each event. The medical certificate for nonresident foreigners can be issued in their own country, but the same examinations as required by Italian law must have been performed:
- medical examination
- comprehensive urine examination
- electrocardiogram at rest and after exercise
- spirography.

- Athletes registered for a Sports Promotion Body (Sect. Athletics), in possession of the Runcard-EPS; however, participation is conditional, in addition to possession of the “RUNCARD”:
- o the presentation of a valid medical certificate of specific competitive fitness for athletics, which must be shown to the organizers in the original and kept, as a copy, in the records of the organizing club of each event. The medical certificate for nonresident foreigners can be issued in their own country, but the same examinations required by Italian regulations must have been performed:
- medical examination
- comprehensive urine examination
- electrocardiogram at rest and after exercise
- spirography

REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTICIPATION OF ATHLETES NOT REGISTERED IN ITALY
Italian/foreign athletes not registered in Italy may participate, limited to persons 16 years of age and older who meet one of the following requirements: FOREIGN REGISTERED ATHLETES- Athletes with club memberships affiliated with Foreign Athletics Federations recognized by WA
- Athletes in possession of Runcard (valid as sports insurance and permission to compete) limited to persons 20 years and older; medical certificate of fitness for competitive athletics. The card can be signed up online at runcard.com.
BIB AND RACE PACKET PICKUP
At the Corsa dei Castelli Registration Center:
- Oct. 13 through Oct. 14 in Piazza Unità d’Italia from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.;
- the Oct. 15 in the starting area at the Miramare Castle from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m..
On Sunday, October 15, bib and race packet pickup is reserved for nonresidents of the province of Trieste.
In the case of collection by proxy, the delegating party must complete, sign and deliver to the delegate
the proxy form, the privacy form, a copy of the registration confirmation letter, and a copy of his or her ID.
TIMING AND RANKINGS
The measurement of gun time and processing of the rankings are by EVODATA (Timing&Data Solutions) and are validated by the Technical Delegate/Appeals Judge. The rankings will be available online at Endu.net on the event page. Any complaints must be submitted no later than 30′ after the online publication of the rankings.
APPROVED ROUTE
10 km by road; starting from the impressive Miramare Castle and finishing in Piazzale delle Milizie inside San Giusto Castle, running along the Barcola seafront and through the heart of the city and the historic Piazza Unità d’Italia, the largest square in Europe open to the sea.
LIMIT TIME
The time limit to finish the 10km race is set at 1h30′, beyond this time the Organizing Committee will no longer guarantee control and assistance on the race course.
REFRESHMENT PLACES
As per Fidal regulations, there will be a refreshment station at km 5 and one in the finish area at San Giusto Castle.
SHUTTLE SERVICE
A shuttle service will be arranged at the Central Train Station to reach the start area (Miramare Castle), Saba Silos parking lot side, from 7:30 to 8:45 am. It is advisable to park your car near the train station and the areas surrounding Piazza Unità d’Italia, which can be reached from the arrival area of San Giusto Castle within a few minutes’ walk and close to the shuttle service.BAG STORAGE SERVICE
A bag deposit service will be provided in the start area at the Miramare Castle where each athlete will be able to hand in their bag with a sticker corresponding to their bib number attached to identify it. Bags can be delivered until 9:30 a.m. Post-race bag pickup at the finish area at St. Giusto Castle.
INDIVIDUAL AWARDS
Awards will be given to the top 3 overall male and female athletes and the top 3 finishers in each masters category with in-kind prizes.
Podium for top 3 overall men and women immediate post finish.
Category awards pickup: Piazza Unità d’Italia from 12 noon to 1 p.m.
Unclaimed prizes cannot be claimed again.
SOCIETY AWARDS
In-kind prizes will be awarded to the top 5 ranked companies with a minimum of 15 athletes based on the number of finishers, the sum of finishers will determine the final ranking.
Company prize collection: Unity Square from 12 noon to 1 p.m.
Unclaimed prizes cannot be claimed again.

COMPLAINTS
Any complaints must be made in accordance with FIDAL and R.T.I. regulations.RIGHT OF IMAGE
By registering for the 2023 Corsa dei Castelli the athlete authorizes the organization to acquire, free of charge, the right, together with its partners, to use the still or moving images on which he/she may appear, taken during his/her participation in the 2023 Corsa dei Castelli, on all visual media as well as on promotional and/or advertising materials.
FRAUDULENT PARTICIPATION IN THE TENDER – PENALTIES
The registrant is responsible for the ownership and safekeeping of his/her race bib, acquiring the right to use all the services mentioned in these regulations and subsequent communications.
- Anyone who, without regular registration, participates without a bib number, in addition to being held liable for damage to persons or property, including himself, will incur sports sanctions under the jurisdiction of the federal bodies and may be liable to the criminal penalties provided for the crime of “theft” (art.624 Criminal Code).
- Anyone who, without proper registration, participates with a counterfeit bib or otherwise does not comply with the assignment, in addition to being liable as stated above, will incur the sports sanctions and, in addition, may be liable to the criminal penalties provided for the crime of “theft” (art.624 criminal code), or, alternatively, for the crime of “fraud” (art. 640 criminal code).
In cases 1 and 2, participants may be liable to the penalties provided for the crime of “failure to comply with the measures of the Authorities” (Article 650 of the Criminal Code). The aforementioned cases will be found only upon verification of photographic and/or video documentation.

FINAL WARNINGS
The Organizing Committee reserves the right to modify these regulations at any time for reasons it deems appropriate for the better organization of the race, after giving notice and obtaining approval from FIDAL.
For all matters not provided for in these regulations, the FIDAL and G.G.G. technical statutory regulations apply. Any changes to services, locations and times will be appropriately communicated to registered athletes or will be posted on the website www.promorun.it In addition, documentation containing essential information for taking part in the race will be delivered by the organization along with the bib.
CANCELLATION OF COMPETITIONS – NON-PERFORMANCE
Should the race be cancelled, moved to another date and/or, in any case, not held due to causes not dependent on and/or not referable to the will of the organization, including the revocation of the authorization to hold the race by the competent Public Bodies, atmospheric events, earthquakes, epidemics and any other event that may affect the safety of the participants, the participant shall have no claim against the organizing company by way of reimbursement.
Entries received will be kept valid for the following year or for another Promorun event. The transfer will be completely free of charge.
